YogaJo is a sports club located in Sydney, specifically in the Northern Beaches area. The club offers a variety of yoga classes for individuals of all ages and experience levels. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced yogi, YogaJo welcomes you to join their classes and embrace the benefits of yoga.
Jo Longhurst, the founder of YogaJo, has been practising Iyengar Yoga since the 90s. Her journey began in London when she enrolled in a beginner's Iyengar course and fell in love with the practise. With a strong passion for healthy living and body movements, yoga came naturally to Jo. She became a serious Iyengar student and eventually pursued formal training to become a qualified Iyengar Yoga Teacher.
At YogaJo, you can attend various open Iyengar yoga classes throughout the week. These classes are designed to accommodate individuals of all levels, from beginners to more experienced practitioners. In addition to open classes, Jo also offers two weekly Yoga for Kids classes, held in Avalon and Bayview Mona Vale, starting from July 22nd.
All yoga studios at YogaJo provide the necessary equipment for your practise. However, if you prefer to bring your own mat, that's perfectly fine. Additionally, YogaJo offers corporate workplace yoga classes, private one-on-one tuition, as well as yoga sessions for schools and universities. The club ensures that all required yoga equipment is provided for these sessions.
Jo's dedication to yoga led her to visit the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute in Pune, India, where she had intensive practise sessions with the Iyengar family in 2011, 2013, and 2015. Despite the passing of Yogacharya B. K. S.
Iyengar (Guruji), the beloved founder of Iyengar Yoga, Jo plans to continue her yoga journey and visit the institute again in the future.
Before attending a yoga class at YogaJo, it is recommended to practise on an empty stomach. A light snack an hour before the class or a big meal at least two hours prior is ideal. It is also important to communicate any existing conditions, injuries, medication usage, or doctors' advice to Jo before your class, ensuring a safe and effective practise.
Aside from regular classes, YogaJo also organises unique yoga experiences, such as the Thailand Yoga Retreat in 2023. This retreat offers 10 nights in Phuket, with a maximum of 16 participants. To secure your place, it is encouraged to book now.
Get in touch with Jo and the team at YogaJo by contacting them through their website or by calling 0405 330 613. Their website provides more information about the club, including a contact form for inquiries. Join YogaJo on their journey to embrace the ancient science of yoga and experience its evolution in your own life.
