Wild Dog Triathlon Club (WDTC) is a sports club located in the Baw Baw Shire in Victoria, Australia. Founded in September 1997, the club was formed by a group of enthusiastic athletes who came together to train in Warragul. The club's first events were held at Blue Rock Dam in Willow Grove.
In 1999, WDTC became co-tenants with the Warragul Tennis Club, which provided the club with its own club rooms located on Burke St in Warragul. This allowed members to have a dedicated space to meet, train, and organise races. The club's Summer Series was introduced in 1999, with races taking place on either Wednesday evenings or Sunday mornings around the Burke St precinct. Today, the Summer Series is held on Saturday afternoons from late October to mid-March.
The club also hosts an annual Community Triathlon.
WDTC members actively participate in various triathlon series and major Ironman events, including the Australian Championships and Hawaii. The club's focus is on fostering a sense of courage, commitment, community, and friendship among its members.
To stay up to date with the latest information, the club recommends following them on Facebook. They regularly post updates about upcoming races, results, and other news. For race registrations, the club has transitioned to online registrations due to COVID-19. Registrations close at 1 pm on race day, and participants' names are checked off the Register of Participants at the club rooms between 4 pm and 4:30 pm.
Junior races start at 4 pm, and senior races start at 5 pm. The swim leg of the senior races takes place in the outdoor 50-metre pool at the Warragul Leisure Centre. The bike leg follows a 3 km circuit around the Leisure Centre, and the run leg is held on the walking tracks in Burke St Park, opposite the Leisure Centre.
For anyone interested in triathlons, WDTC welcomes individuals of all skill levels, as long as they have a bike, a helmet, and a great attitude. Join the club and be a part of the Wild Dog Triathlon community in Baw Baw Shire.
