Wide Bay Archers Inc. is a well-established sports club located in the Fraser Coast Regional area of Australia. The club, affiliated with the Australian Bowhunters Association (ABA), specialises in Field Archery and offers an exciting and dynamic environment for archers of all skill levels.
Conveniently situated at 1463-1501 Maryborough-Hervey Bay Road, just 1 km past the Susan River Homestead, Wide Bay Archers is easily accessible for members and visitors alike. When travelling towards Hervey Bay, the club can be found on the left-hand side.
To join Wide Bay Archers, individuals must first become members of the ABA. This ensures that the club complies with necessary insurance and code of conduct obligations. Once members, archers have the opportunity to participate in various forms of archery, including shooting ABA (Animal paper targets), IFAA (International Field Archery Association), and 3D targets. These targets are set up throughout field courses, designed to replicate natural bush surroundings.
Wide Bay Archers welcomes all forms of archery equipment, whether it be compound bows, recurve bows, or longbows. However, before being able to shoot on the course, a standard safety inspection carried out by club officials is required to ensure the safety of everyone involved.
A typical Sunday shoot at Wide Bay Archers consists of shooting 20 targets in the morning and another 20 targets in the afternoon. Competitions start promptly at 9:00 am, with the day usually wrapping up around 2:30 pm. It is advisable to check the club calendar for introduction days and club events. If the comments section of the calendar is blacked out, it means there will be no club shoot, club instructors, or canteen and club equipment available on that particular day.
During each shoot, members can fuel up and refresh themselves at the club's canteen. The canteen offers a variety of delicious food and refreshing drinks, all reasonably priced. Members are kindly requested to be at the club, nominated, and ready to shoot by 9:00 am. Additionally, each member is required to operate the canteen at least once per calendar year.
Wide Bay Archers prioritises safety above all else, as it is essential for the enjoyment and well-being of all members. Failure to adhere to the club's safety rules may result in individuals being banned from the club.
