About
Rugby League in Queensland was founded following a meeting in Brisbane in 1907. The first games were held in 1908 between teams representing Queensland and All Golds from New Zealand. The first club competition started in Brisbane in 1908 with Valley's being the inaugural tops. In the following years two Ipswich teams, West End and Starlights, joined the competition.
Starlights folded in 1942 leaving West End the oldest surviving team in Ipswich and one of the oldest in Queensland and Australia. West End won their first leadingship in 1914 and have gone on to win another 15 with the last being in 1990 under the guidance of life member Allen Boland. West End have also won numerous reserve grade topships with the most recent being in 2003.
