Vintage Motocross Club of WA is a leading sports club in Perth, Western Australia that actively promotes vintage motocross. Established in 1995, the club aims to recreate the experience of motocross during the 60s and 70s, focusing on the spirit of the era.
The club runs a full winter calendar of events from March to October, utilising a variety of tracks including natural terrain and established 70s era tracks. These tracks provide the ideal setting for vintage motocross racing, with no modern obstacles but plenty of mud, dirt, dust, and hills. The emphasis of the racing is on restoring, riding, and enjoying vintage machinery.
VMXWA primarily focuses on pre-75 era bikes. If you own a trail or dirt bike, solo or sidecar, built before December 31st, 1974, with front wheel travel no more than 7" and rear wheel travel no more than 4", then it is eligible for vintage motocross. The club also allows Evolution class bikes (air cooled, drum brakes, non-linkage suspension) at select events as per the calendar.
The club holds its meetings every 4th Wednesday of each month (excluding December) at the Como Bowling Club in South Perth. The meetings start at 8:00pm and provide an opportunity for members to connect and discuss club activities. Club contacts are available on the website for further inquiries.
In addition to racing events, the Vintage Motocross Club of WA also holds an Annual General Meeting, which allows members to participate in the decision-making process. The AGM for 2023 will be held on November 26th, 2023, at 7 Sobek Pass, Bibra Lake. The meeting will declare all committee positions vacant and the new committee for 2024 will be voted on. Members unable to attend can download a proxy form from the website to nominate someone to act on their behalf.
The club also organises an end-of-year wind-up and trophy presentation event. This event, held on November 26th, 2023, at Powerplay Bibra Lake, includes go-kart sessions. Participants will have the opportunity to complete a practise session, qualifying session, and a final race. To secure a spot, participants are required to RSVP and pre-pay through a bank transfer.
Spectators are also welcome to attend and enjoy the club's AGM and trophy presentation.
Vintage Motocross Club of WA is a community of motocross enthusiasts who are passionate about preserving the history and experience of vintage motocross. Whether you are a rider or a spectator, the club offers a welcoming environment for all to enjoy the sport and share their love for vintage machinery.
