The club offers weekly social and competition tennis for both adults and juniors on their grass, hard, and clay courts, which are located at both the Mt Claremont and Campus courts. These courts provide a unique playing experience, as they are the only European red clay courts in Western Australia.
The UWA Tennis Club has a rich history, being one of the oldest UWA sporting clubs established in 1914. It is also one of the most successful clubs in Western Australia, having won 8 State Grade premierships between 1971/72 and 2002/2003. Many players from the club have achieved great success, representing the state, coaching champions, writing tennis books, and even playing for Australia.
The club hosts a variety of events and activities for its members. These include the Summer 23/24 Leagues, the UWA TC Club Championships, Friday Campus Socials, and Sunday Socials. These events provide opportunities for members and non-members alike to engage in match play, improve their skills, and enjoy a friendly and social atmosphere.
In addition to the regular events, the UWA Tennis Club also organises special events throughout the year. One of these events is the UWA Clay Court Junior Slide, a tournament held on the European-style red clay courts, suitable for experienced players looking for substantial match play. Another notable event is the UWA Pride Night, which celebrates the local LGBTQ+ community and allies through a tennis skills session and a doubles tournament.
The club also recognises and celebrates its members' achievements through the UWA TC Club Awards & Quiz Night. This fun-filled evening includes a tennis session, a BBQ, and a presentation of the Summer League and MVP Awards.
Overall, the UWA Tennis Club is a thriving and inclusive sports club that offers a range of tennis activities and events for players of all levels. Whether you are a beginner looking to improve your skills or a seasoned player seeking competitive opportunities, the club provides a welcoming and supportive environment to enjoy the game of tennis.
