Welcome to Tinaroo Canoe Club, the leading sports club for kayaking and canoeing enthusiasts in the Tablelands Regional area of North Queensland. Situated on the beautiful Atherton Tablelands, our club offers a range of activities for members to enjoy and participate in.
Our active members engage in regular river kayaking, weather permitting, as well as kayaking and canoeing on the various dams and lakes in the local area. These outings provide an opportunity to explore the stunning natural landscapes and waterways that surround us, and to connect with fellow paddlers who share a passion for the sport.
One of the highlights of our club's calendar is the annual Barron River Challenge. Now in its 12th year, this thrilling event takes place on the Barron River between Mareeba and Kuranda. Paddlers can choose to compete on the 20 km, 30 km, or 50 km sections of the river, with single and double craft categories available for juniors (16+) and open paddlers. For those who prefer a team-based approach, there is also a relay category for teams of four.
The Barron River Challenge offers a unique opportunity for paddlers of all levels to test their skills and endurance.
