About

The Korean Taekwondo School is a well-established sports club located in Sydney, Australia. Led by Grandmaster Kwon, a genuine Taekwondo 9th Dan Kukkiwon Black Belt, the school aims to pass on the traditional martial art of Korea and promote personal well-being rather than violence.

Grandmaster Kwon is the only Korean master training in the Penrith area, making The Korean Taekwondo School a unique and valuable opportunity for those interested in learning from a true master. With achievements of 9th Dan (14 June 2014) and 8th Dan (5 March 2005) through the Korean domestic promotion test at Kukkiwon in Seoul, Korea, Grandmaster Kwon possesses legendary skills and expertise.

Practising Taekwondo at The Korean Taekwondo School brings numerous benefits, including increased balance, coordination, and gracefulness, improved concentration and mindfulness, enhanced flexibility and strength, stress relief, increased confidence, and self-defence skills. Additionally, many students have reported improved academic performance after starting Taekwondo.

The master's message at The Korean Taekwondo School emphasises the guidance of the master and the student's responsibility to carry out the teachings. The focus is on self-control, emptying the mind, and forgetting competition. The master states that technique is not about combat but about control.

The school offers classes twice a week at the 1st Penrith Scout Hall. The timetable includes normal classes with Kyorugi (sparring) on Mondays, normal classes with Poomsae (forms) on Thursdays, and tournament classes prior to championships on Saturdays. Classes are available for students aged 5 and up, catering to both beginners and advanced practitioners.

Taekwondo is a martial art with a long history and is recognised as a national martial art in Korea. It has gained worldwide attention and is practised by various institutions, including the military, national police force, schools, companies, and suburbs. The art focuses on kicking, punching, blocking, jumping, and dodging, with an emphasis on building a strong moral character and developing self-defence skills.
