The college has a rich history, with the Christian Brothers founding it in 1918 with the goal of establishing a tradition of high academic standards. It quickly became the Matriculation centre for all the Brothers' schools in Melbourne, further solidifying the institution's reputation for academic excellence.
In 1932, due to its burgeoning enrolment, St Kevin's relocated from its original premises in East Melbourne to Toorak. Here, it grew to encompass a full primary and secondary school, providing a comprehensive education for the students. Today, St Kevin's College continues to prioritise excellence in learning as a means to facilitate human growth and liberation. It recognises the importance of family life in nurturing the whole person and strives for all students to achieve a fullness of life.
