Sandringham Club is a sports club located in Melbourne, Australia. The club offers a range of sporting amenities including tennis, squash, snooker, golf, bowls, cricket, fishing, and table tennis.
For tennis enthusiasts, Sandringham Club boasts five modgrass tennis courts equipped with new LED competition-rated lights. The courts are accessible to members from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm daily. Members' partners and children over 18 years old are also able to book the courts on weekdays, typically in the morning, and in the rear courts until 4:00 pm with a $10 green fee. Children between the ages of 8 and 18 who are children of sporting members can use the facilities with their fathers free of charge.
The club organises various competitions for members, including nightly competitions on Monday to Wednesday nights, four mixed doubles and four men's doubles social competitions on Sundays, and intra-club singles and doubles championships. Social men's doubles tennis is played on Saturday and Thursday afternoons as well as Sunday mornings. The club also offers tennis coaching with Brad Crosher, a Tennis Australia-accredited coach, who is available to both members and the public.
For squash enthusiasts, Sandringham Club features one recently refurbished, high-quality squash court built in 1935. There are over thirty active squash players at the club who participate in pennant competitions, club championships, regular practise, and social matches. The club has pennant squash teams that compete in the strong 'Club Circuit' competition, ranging from B grade to F troop. Squash pennant is played once a week on a home and away basis between Monday to Thursday evenings.
Intra-club competitions such as the Club Singles Championship, Club Handicap Championship, and Most Consistent and Best Pennant Performance offer opportunities for members to showcase their skills.
Snooker enthusiasts can indulge in the “Jewel in the Crown” of Sandringham Club, the Billiard Room, which houses two full-sized, recently refurbished, competition-grade billiard tables. The room is available to all members for both social and sporting activities. The club hosts intra-club competitions such as the Open Snooker Championship, Handicap Snooker Championship, and Handicap Billiards Championship. Additionally, interclub challenges with other clubs, including Mt Eliza Country Club, Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club, and Bentleigh Club, are arranged throughout the year.
Although Sandringham Club does not have direct access to a golf course on its grounds, it has approximately 50 active golfing members who also belong to private golf clubs. With the assistance of the Golf Convenor, the club organises numerous golf days at various golf courses in Melbourne, the Mornington Peninsula, and the Bellarine Peninsula. This allows members to have access to top-ranked private courses in Australia and worldwide. The club encourages participation from golfers with or without an official GOLFLINK golf handicap and holds several intra-club competitions, including the Club Championship (stroke), Country Championship held at Sorrento GC, City Championship held at Victoria GC, and various Stableford events.
These competitions culminate in an Order of Merit Champion for the calendar year.
Sandringham Club welcomes sports enthusiasts of all ages and backgrounds who are interested in participating in a range of sports, socialising with fellow members, and enjoying the beautiful sporting amenities offered.
