Port Macquarie Surf Life Saving Club

Port Macquarie Surf Life Saving Club is located at Flynns Beach, which was chosen as the club's home in 1929 due to its convenient vehicle access, beachfront park, and car parking facilities. Flynns Beach is known for its sandy shore and minimal rocks, stretching over a length of 500 metres. It is also partially protected by Nobby Head, resulting in an east-northeast orientation. The beach experiences an average wave height of 1.

4 metres, with two permanent rips against the northern headland and southern rocks, as well as a third rip that crosses the central bar during and following higher waves. There is also a trough and outer bar beyond the bar, with rips at either end.

The club welcomes new members throughout the year, with its financial membership season running from 1 July to 30 June annually. To vote at the Annual General Meeting, members must be financial by the date of the AGM. Membership fees for the previous year must be paid by 31 October.

The club offers different membership types to cater to various age groups and interests. Nippers, aged 5 to 13, can join the club and participate in age-appropriate activities. Nippers who turn 5 after 30 September may join the under 6 age group the following year. However, at least one parent of a nipper must be a registered club member.

Cadets, aged 13 to 15, can contribute to the club by achieving the Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC) in the under 14 age group. They can assist with water safety and engage in regular activities, including patrols, as they work towards obtaining their Bronze Medallion.

Rostered patrolling members, including active 15-18, active, cadets with SRC certificate, and award members, can join the club and volunteer to patrol Flynns Beach on weekends and public holidays from September to April. These members are required to hold qualifications such as Bronze Medallion, SRC, or First Aid.

Members who hold a Bronze Medallion but no longer wish to be on a rostered patrol can be part of the club as active reserve or past active members, including long service members.

Associate members, including nipper parents who do not patrol, are also welcomed to join the club. However, at least one nipper parent or guardian must be a current financial member of the club for nipper registration to be approved.

The membership fees for the 2023-2024 season are dependent on the membership type and can be obtained by contacting the club directly.
