To reach us, simply turn from Old Yanchep Rd onto Ziatas Road, which becomes Perry Rd, and you'll find the complex on the right-hand side. Our club is the fourth along the access road.

Our club boasts impressive facilities, established in 1978. It features two big bore (centre fire) ranges that extend up to 200 metres, two field pistol (centre fire) ranges reaching 100 metres, and four rimfire ranges stretching to 100 metres as well. All shooters are covered, ensuring a comfortable shooting experience. Additionally, our well-equipped clubhouse includes a kitchen, BBQ area, toilets, and a shower.
Ample parking is available as well.
So, what exactly is handgun metallic silhouette shooting? The sport has an interesting history, originating from training shoots conducted by the Mexican army in the early 1900s. In modern competition, shooters engage with animal-shaped silhouettes made of steel, which stand on rails. Each knocked off target earns a score.
A match typically consists of shooting one shot at each of the 40 steel silhouette targets. These targets are arranged in banks of chickens, pigs, turkeys, and rams. Shooters have two minutes to engage each bank of targets, shooting from left to right. Handgun metallic silhouette shooting is an internationally recognised discipline, also popularly practised in most Australian states.
At PHMSC, we offer three different types of ranges to cater to various preferences and skill levels. Our big bore ranges feature full animal-size targets, set at distances of 50, 100, 150, and 200 metres. Powerful handgun loads, such as the . 44 Magnum, are required to successfully knock over the rams at 200 metres.
The field pistol range presents half-size targets, with banks positioned at 25, 50, 75, and 100 metres. Here, shooters utilise centre-fire handguns, with the option to reduce loads and recoil. For a fun and affordable introduction to the sport, our rimfire ranges offer three-eighth size targets, set at the same distances as the field pistol range.
When it comes to handguns, support, and training, we offer a variety of options. Our club supports a range of handgun types, including single shot, revolver, repeater, and self-loading actions. Shooting categories include production, revolver, unlimited, and scoped. Gun support is provided through the Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (SSAA), allowing members to own their guns after a qualifying period.
Ongoing club support does require meeting legal and club requirements, such as minimum attendance.
To enhance your shooting skills, we offer training in various shooting positions, such as standing or freestyle. Members shoot to achieve personal rankings, and they can also learn to load ammunition tailored to specific matches, providing cost savings. Safety is a top priority, and our members receive training in the safe handling of firearms.
Please note that no guns, ammunition, or valuables are stored on the club premises for security reasons.
Join us at Perth Handgun Metallic Silhouette Club and experience the thrill of shooting steel, not paper. For any inquiries or to get in touch, please reach out to our secretary via email at secretary@phmsc. Org or visit our website.
