The Peninsula Pistol Club is a target pistol shooting club located in Mt Martha, Victoria on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula. Affiliated with the Victorian Amateur Pistol Association (VAPA), the club offers a fantastic opportunity for individuals to participate in the thrilling sport of target pistol shooting.
Club competitions are held weekly on Saturdays and Sundays, with additional matches on Wednesday mornings. Members also have access to the range for training seven days a week. The club's range facilities include 25m and 50m ranges, a specialised range for Service/Action & IPSC match events, and an indoor Air Pistol range.
Safety is of the utmost importance at the Peninsula Pistol Club, and strict safety measures are continuously monitored and enforced. Members can expect a safe and secure environment to hone their shooting skills and enjoy their passion for the sport.
With a rich history dating back to 1958, the Peninsula Pistol Club is one of the oldest target pistol shooting clubs in Victoria. The club has grown from its humble beginnings, where all amenities and equipment had to be transported to and from the range each week. Through the hard work of its members, the club now boasts an extensive complex, including a large club room with kitchen and member facilities, an indoor air pistol range, four outdoor shooting ranges with roofing over the shooting bays, and a large car park.
Some founding members of the Peninsula Pistol Club are still active members today, participating in the various competitions held at the club. New members are always encouraged to join in the weekly competitions, and ample help and support are provided to those unfamiliar with particular matches.
In 2014, the club faced a devastating setback when an arson attack destroyed its club rooms, internal air pistol range, and part of the external range walls. However, the club persevered, and in 2021, the PPC Club House was rebuilt, offering members and their families modern, clean, and comfortable facilities to relax in after competitions.
Weekly competitions at the Peninsula Pistol Club follow the VAPA postal shoots and comprise a six-week shooting cycle. Matches in the club's calendar include Centre Fire & Sports Pistol, Practical/IPSC Standard Pistol, Service Match 25m & 50m, Action Match, Free Pistol, Black Powder 25m & 50m, Classic Pistol 25m & 50m, Combined Service Pistol, Rapid Fire Air Pistol, Western Match, and WA 1500.
While the club's range is exclusive to members only and not open to the public, visitors with full handgun licences can participate in matches by making prior arrangements through a club member or by emailing the club. All visitors must adhere to range instructions and present a valid Victorian handgun firearms licence upon entering the club.
Prospective new members are always welcome at the Peninsula Pistol Club. The club offers attractive pricing options, including discounted Spouse/Family, Junior, and Student membership categories to encourage families to join. Prospective members can arrange to visit the range by appointment to take a tour of the facilities. For all membership inquiries, individuals can contact the club via email at ppc@ppc.
