Nomads Outdoors Group

Nomads Outdoors Group is a social sports club located in the Mornington Peninsula Shire, catering to gay and gay-friendly men of all ages. The club also extends a warm welcome to members of the lesbian, bisexual, and transgender communities, as well as anyone who shares their values of tolerance and acceptance.

The club was established in the summer of 1981-1982 and has been active ever since. Nomads Outdoors Group is focused on promoting outdoor activities and providing a supportive community for its members. The club attracts individuals from Melbourne, country Victoria, and other states across Australia.

Nomads Outdoors Group offers a diverse range of activities to cater to different interests and skill levels. These include day walks through various locations in Melbourne and country Victoria, bushwalking expeditions ranging from day hikes to multi-day backpacking trips, base camping, bike rides over a single day or a weekend, cross country skiing and snow camping, indoor rock-climbing, canoeing, kayaking, and white water rafting.

In addition to outdoor adventures, Nomads Outdoors Group also organises cultural activities such as movie nights, theatre performances, and musicals. The club hosts social events like restaurant nights, Christmas parties, and beachside barbecues to foster a sense of camaraderie among members.

To ensure the safety and well-being of their participants, the club follows a robust risk management protocol. All activities are graded to indicate the level of difficulty and effort involved, and leaders are trained to identify and minimise potential risks.

Membership for Nomads Outdoors Group is paid on an annual basis. By becoming a member, individuals gain access to a vibrant community of like-minded individuals and the opportunity to participate in a wide range of outdoor activities and social events.
