Information, please contact Newcastle Rowing Club directly.
Newcastle Rowing Club, also known as Infunde Aquam Solum, is a sports club located in the inner city suburb of Carrington in Newcastle, Australia. Situated at the end of Tully Street, the club can be easily accessed by crossing the Cowper St Bridge and taking the first left turn, then left again around the oval to reach the water.
The club recently moved into a brand new boat shed in August 2009, marking a new beginning for the club. Despite being a relatively small club, Newcastle Rowing Club was named Rowing Australia's 2021 Club of the Year for its outstanding efforts in driving rowing participation and development. The club offers a variety of programmes, including a growing Junior Development Squad, Rookie Rowing, indoor rowing, and popular club events such as The Bustle and ERGtober.
In addition to its activities, Newcastle Rowing Club actively supports local organisations through fundraising and donations. The club's members are known for their passionate enthusiasm and strong support for each other in competition and other athletic pursuits.
The club welcomes both experienced rowers and individuals who are interested in learning to row. If you have had a break from rowing and would like to return, you can complete the Membership Application Form and contact the club through their Contact Page to arrange to get back on the water.
Newcastle Rowing Club has a rich history dating back to 1870, spanning over four eras. A comprehensive club history titled 'Just Add Water, The Times, and Tides of Newcastle Rowing Club' by Colin Charters was released in December 2009, documenting the club's story. The book quickly sold out but is now available for a second run, which can be requested via the club's contact page. The club's history and a full copy of the book can also be accessed on the Australian Rowing History website.
For supporters and fellow clubs in the CDRA, Newcastle Rowing Club provides some useful links, including NSW Sport and Recreation, Newcastle City Council, Newcastle Tourism 'Visit Newcastle,' Hunter Development Corporation, NSW Rowing Association, and Rowing Heritage Cultural Structures. These links can offer additional information and resources related to rowing and the club's activities.
Newcastle Rowing Club is incredibly grateful for the generous support of Orica through their Community Investment Programme. The club's facilities and projects have been made possible, in part, by their contributions. The club's site was developed by Blackbird.
