Nelson Bay Croquet Club, located in the Blue Water Paradise of Port Stephens, just north of Newcastle, NSW, has been a thriving sports club for 27 years. The club is open to anyone who is interested in the game of croquet, and visitors are warmly welcomed.
Members of the Nelson Bay Croquet Club have the opportunity to play all three internationally recognised forms of croquet: Golf, Ricochet, and Association. The club organises both social and competitive games, which take place five days a week on four professionally maintained full-sized courts. Additionally, the club has a small clubhouse on-site.
In addition to regular games, the club also has an active programme of social events, providing members with opportunities to connect and unwind. These events contribute to the welcoming and friendly atmosphere that makes Nelson Bay Croquet Club a popular destination for croquet enthusiasts.
The club also encourages members to contribute to the community and the club's activities. Members can communicate with each other through the club's newsletter and are encouraged to share any news or items of interest with the club's secretary, David Wilson, via email. The Nelson Bay Croquet Club prides itself on the achievements of its members. Recently, 10 club members participated in the Gloucester Masters Golf Croquet Doubles competition, with seven of them achieving success. Brenda-Lee and Rod Peet, Peter and Sherry Gordon, Rob Batho and Lyn Stewart from Gloucester, Faby Batho and Chris Sims from Gloucester, and Jane Scorer and Eric Drury from Port Macquarie all achieved top positions in their respective blocks.
Another highlight is the President's Cup, where 10 members competed, showcasing their skills and determination. Ultimately, Trevor Black emerged as the defending champion, winning all four games in Block A, and Peter Gordon excelled in Block B, earning a spot in the final.
