It draws together teachings and practises from hatha, raja, karma, bhakti and jnana yoga in a fashion that is broad and flexible enough to cater to individual needs and preferences. Yoga classes in the Satyananda tradition offer postures, breathing practises and meditation for students of all levels of ability.
SATYANANDA YOGA balances and strengthens us physically, mentally and emotionally, improving the quality of our lives. It is beneficial for everyone. There are many aspects to yoga, and it is a wonderful to discover its scope and depth according to our individual needs and interests. SATYANANDA YOGA gives us many tools to cultivate the peace, joy as many people today are stressed and this continued pressure and tension leads to diminished energy and reduced enjoyment of life, resulting ultimately in dis-ease.
Practising and incorporating Yoga into our lives can reverse this process, helping to release accumulated tensions in the body and mind. We can understand how to respond to life situations and how to manage them better.
Each class always aims to develop and deepen the your awareness of your own experience. This is done by creating an accepting and non-competitive environment in which to explore the practises.
Through the development of awareness you gain insight not only into the nature of the practises but into your own personality as well and embarks on a journey of self-discovery and transformation.
A typical class begins with a short relaxation to centre and forget the outside world for a while and then move into a series of yoga postures (asana) to relax the body, increase flexibility and remove energy blocks. This further relaxes and focuses the mind, while improving energy flow, whilst integrating and harmonising the body, mind, and spirit with deep relaxation Yoga Nidra and meditation.
Yoga Nidra is a simple guided meditation practise performed lying down. It provides an experience of very deep relaxation by resting the physical body and allowing the mind to become calm and clear.
