Mount Larcom Bowls Club is a vibrant sports club located in Narrows Road, Mount Larcom, Queensland. The club is easily accessible, just a turn off the highway and crossing the railway line. At the T-junction, take the turn to the right, and you'll find the club as the first turnoff on the right, up the hill.
The club is open 7 days a week and its facilities are available for use by any group that wishes to utilise them. Whether it's a social club outing or a family gathering, Mount Larcom Bowls Club is the perfect venue. Every Sunday afternoon, the club hosts bowling sessions, which may include both club championships and social bowls. Visitors are warmly welcomed, and it's possible to join a game almost every Sunday.
The club also encourages newcomers to try out this fantastic sport, offering bowls for those who don't have their own equipment, including sets of junior bowls for the younger ones.
In an effort to make the sport accessible to everyone, Mount Larcom Bowls Club has invested in two bowling arms that can be borrowed. These aids are particularly helpful for individuals who may have difficulty holding a bowl. By providing these bowling arms, the club ensures that everyone can enjoy the sport regardless of physical limitations.
One of the club's standout features is its playing facility. The green at Mount Larcom Bowls Club is a needle punch carpet with retractable shades. This state-of-the-art green is the first of its kind in the Port Curtis District, predating Calliope Central by two days. The needle punch carpet greatly reduces the maintenance required to keep the green in top condition.
Additionally, the retractable shades provide a more comfortable playing environment during the hotter months. Within just two minutes, the green can transition from full sun to covered, ensuring that players can enjoy their game regardless of the weather.
The club hosts a range of competitions throughout the year. For men, competitions run from January to December and include singles, pairs, triples, fours, and mixed pairs. This year, due to the increasing number of newer bowlers, the club is running a B grade singles competition. Nominations for this will be announced once the usual competitions are underway.
Members can easily access competition draws online, allowing them to keep track of their scheduled games. Players are encouraged to organise their own games, enabling them to accommodate their other commitments.
The ladies' competition also runs from January to December, and this year's competition is already well underway. Mount Larcom Bowls Club is proud to provide a platform for women to showcase their skills and compete in a supportive and welcoming environment.
