Led by Mark, a highly experienced and knowledgeable golf instructor, the academy offers private and semi-private tuition by appointment. Mark has a wealth of teaching and tournament experience, having turned professional in 1978. He played on the European tour before transitioning to a teaching career at the esteemed Ealing Golf Club in London. In 1989, Mark emigrated to Perth where he taught at various public golf courses before becoming the Golf and Sports Manager at the Araluen Country Club.
With extensive training, Mark became an accredited Master Golf Instructor with Jack Nicklaus/Jim Flick Golf Schools USA and was the Lead Instructor in Victoria.
In 1997, Mark established his own golf academy at Brighton, located in Melbourne's famous Sandbelt region. Over the next five years, his innovative golf development programmes introduced more people to the game than any other establishment in Victoria. Since 2003, Mark has been based at The Vines Resort, where he has been dedicated to growing the game with an extensive junior programme from beginner to elite level. Known for his work with people with disabilities, Mark played a pivotal role in establishing the West Australian Amputee and Disabled Golf Association and the Ready Steady Golf programme (formerly the First Swing Programme).
He has also gained accreditation for Blind and Disabled Coaching with PGA Australia.
Mark has had the privilege of working with some leading teachers in Australia, Great Britain, and the USA. His coaching articles have been featured in instructional columns by numerous newspapers, magazines, and websites. In recognition of his contributions to the golf community, Mark was awarded Fellow of the PGA of Great Britain and Ireland in 2012.
The MTI Golf Academy has received numerous prestigious awards over the years, including the Junior Golf Leader of the Year, Teaching Professional of the Year, Game Development Award, and WA PGA Game Development of the Year Award. Most recently, the academy was honoured with the Golf Australia Visionary Award in February 2021.
At MTI Golf Academy, you can choose from private tuition or participate in structured and progressive group tuition programmes that are scheduled throughout the year. The academy also caters to individuals with disabilities and special needs, offering tailored golf lessons. There are dedicated programmes for women's golf, junior girls, and junior golfers.
