Longriders Christian Motorcycle Club Australia – Victoria is a sports club based in Melbourne. The club was established in 1989, with a small group of original members who were committed to long distance riding on old machinery and small budgets. Over the years, the club has grown in numbers and has retained a core group of original members who now have the honour of life membership.
The club's aims and values, which include fair dinkum Christianity, brotherhood, family, and community, have stood the test of time. Longriders places a strong emphasis on family, with members encouraged to prioritise the needs of their families. The club believes that members with strong, positive families are usually strong and positive themselves.
Longriders is dedicated to Christian outreach and service to the biking community. The club has been instrumental in helping men and women find Christian faith, which has often led to freedom from drug and alcohol addiction, restored relationships and families, and improved quality of life. The club takes a “doing the miles with ya” approach to supporting others on their spiritual journeys while respecting individuality.
In 1998, the club established a chapter in the Hunter Valley in NSW, which started out with only five members and two nominees. They had been riding together for a number of years as a front patch club known as the “Christian Riders. ” The NSW chapter has since become well established and continues to grow.
In June 2002, the Adelaide chapter of Longriders grew into two, with the second chapter based at Murray Bridge. This chapter has developed a positive relationship with the local Aboriginal Community, extending to Adelaide as well. Successful runs with Indigenous brothers who ride have been one of the outcomes of this relationship.
Longriders Christian Motorcycle Club Australia – Victoria welcomes members who share their values and are committed to long distance riding, Christian outreach, and service to the biking community. The club's website provides information on how to become a member and gives an overview of the club's history, events, and contact details.
