Kowen Trail Run

Kowen Trail Run, brought to you by the Wamboin Trail Runners Inc. , is a renowned sports club located in the Palerang Council of New South Wales, Australia. This thriving club organises exhilarating trail running events that take participants through the scenic single and fire trails of Kowen Forest, situated on the ACT/NSW border. Not only do these races offer an exciting challenge, but they also provide participants with breathtaking views of Canberra, making every hill climb worth the effort.

One of their highlight events is the New Year's Resolution Run, which kicks off the year with an unforgettable experience. Participants can choose between a half-marathon, which combines forestry trails and single track with panoramic views of Canberra, or a 12 km course that offers 8 km of continuous single track in the native forest. The half-marathon course challenges runners with 680 metres of elevation, including a daunting ascent of the formidable Mt Amungula. Meanwhile, the 12 km route features over 320 metres of climb.

By participating in this event, runners not only challenge themselves but also contribute to a good cause, as all proceeds go directly to support the Wamboin Rural Fire Brigade.

During winter, Kowen Trail Run offers a series of three fantastic events called Winter Trails. These races allow participants to stay warm while enjoying the beauty of native forests and groomed forestry trails with stunning views of Canberra and its surroundings. With over 400 metres of elevation gain on the 12 km course, 600 metres in the half-marathon, and a challenging 1400 metres over the marathon course, these events provide a thrilling experience for all trail running enthusiasts.
