Kindy Karate

Kindy Karate Melbourne is a high-quality martial arts training programme designed specifically for children aged 4 years and above. Developed and delivered by Head and Founder, Sensei Sandra, children learn genuine Japanese karate in structured classes, helping them master essential Shitoryu karate movements all the way to black belt.

Sensei Sandra delivers classes every week in a quiet class environment, although kids are encouraged to shout loudly when instructed! If your child is a good listener, can follow instructions, and is able to focus, they will be ready to start karate classes with Sensei Sandra. There is no parental involvement in our classes as little ones do the class on their own with Sensei Sandra.

Our martial arts school is affiliated with the Australian and International peak karate bodies and is government recognised. We specialise in the Shitoryu style of karate, one of the four main styles in Japan that provides leadership in competitive sport. All our karate classes are delivered by Sensei Sandra herself, ensuring high-quality instruction in a safe environment.

Our students are disciplined, confident, strong-spirited, kind, courageous, fit, and healthy. For those students who show particular talent and dedication, Sensei Sandra offers a path to competition karate. However, please note that our class numbers are restricted and managed carefully to maintain quality of learning.

Kindy Karate classes are held in our full-time, private venue located at 9 Hunt Street, Coburg. This allows us to control the environment, ensuring safety, cleanliness, and uninterrupted class time. Onsite car parking is available for your convenience.

Sensei Sandra is an accredited coach with First Aid Certification and a valid Working with Children's Check. She also serves as a referee and judge for the AKF and is a former Karate Champion. We pride ourselves on our adherence to a strict Code of Conduct and Privacy Policy to ensure the well-being and safety of our students.

Kindy Karate is an initiative of OKUKAN karate school, which maintains formal relationships with the Australian Karate Federation (AKF). As a member of the World Karate Federation (WKF), the AKF provides our students with access to Junior/Cadet and Senior World Championships.

Established in 1934, the Shitoryu style has become known worldwide through activities organised by Japan Shito-Ryu Karate-Do Kai and All Japan Karate-Do Federation Shito-Kai. The World Shito-Ryu Karate-Do Federation was established in 1993, with affiliated regions such as the Asian-Pacific region.
