About
Established by Natsuko Mineghishi, a Japanese female Karate-ka and a renowned Melbourne soprano, in January 2007. KARYUKAI is officially recognized by the Shotokan Karate-Do International Australia [SKIA] and the Shotokan Karate-Do International Federation [SKIF] in Japan. SKIA is also affiliated with the Australian Karate Federation [AKF]. Karyukai currently offers three training sessions per week for adults and children. Mondays and Wednesdays at Richmond Dojo and Saturdays at South Yarra Dojo. Outdoor training is also offered at regular basis. Although our focus is strongly on manner, etiquette and discipline side of traditional Karate, we recognize the benefits of competition for everyone. The excitements and thrills of competition make students blossom enormously, specially children. There is once a year compulsory attendance of the state competition and we also encourage and offer opportunities for members to enter numbers of other competitions.
