JUNIOR PERFORMANCE PROGRAM | 12-17yo

The game of Basketball and basketball players are recognised universally as some of the most athletic, acrobatic, explosive and entertaining sport and athletes in the world. 

Basketball is considered by many as a sport whose players and skills transfer over to other sports more easily than vice versa. 

Kevin Brooks Basketball Services (KBBS) and Adam Murphy Strength & Conditioning (AMSC) are teaming up to offer a ‘JUNIOR PERFORMANCE PROGRAM’ involving Speed, Quickness, Jumping and Agility training workouts to the junior basketball community. 

• SPEED is the ability to move the body in one direction as fast as possible
• QUICKNESS is the ability to react swiftly with your feet, hands and/or body
• JUMPING is a form of movement that enables a player to push off the ground with one foot or two, and propel themselves through the air with control and land with symmetry
• AGILITY is the ability to help the body speed up and slow down, whilst quickly changing direction and maintaining proper posture and balance 

This type of training is important to all athletes, in particular, junior athletes to develop strength, improve coordination, increase reaction times and overall agility which may assist with building confidence, preventing injuries and enhancing an individual’s fitness. 

We will conduct exercises such as: 

• Shuttle runs
• Lateral jumps
• Lateral running
• Ladder drills
• Box jumps
• Plyometric (explosive power & speed) drills
• Sprints

 KBBS and AMSC are offering three 45-minute sessions every Thursday at the Marden Basketball Centre. The times and ages are as follows: 

• 6:00 – 6:45pm | Ages 8 – 11yo
• 6:45 – 7:30pm | Ages 12 – 17yo
