Joondalup Giants Rugby League Club

The Joondalup and Districts Rugby League Club was founded in 1990.

The aim of the Club is to provide families with the opportunity to compete in and support an organised winter sport with a view to all year round activities.

We field both senior and junior sides in the National Rugby League Western Australia (NRLWA ... formerly Western Australian Rugby League (WARL)) competition. Junior age groups start from under 6's (where they play modified rules), through to under 18's, including Girls Leaguetag (non-contact) teams.

Although we are a relatively young Club, we are proud of our short history. Since our first season back in 1991 when we won the Under15's topship, we have won a leadingship every season bar one (2014) either at junior or senior level.

Our most memorable season was our 10th season, the year 2000, when we were successful in winning both the First-Grade and Reserve-Grade WARL leadingships.

As we look forward to our 26th season in 2016, we see the continuing emergence of our junior players into the senior ranks. This is an exciting and fulfilling time for the original members of our Club who have watched these young players skills develop to such an extent that they are now the backbone of our senior teams.

To date several of our junior players have re-located to the eastern states for further development, including former NRL player Lee Te Maari (St. George-Illawarra Dragons, Parramatta Eels, Canterbury Bulldogs), and current stars Curtis Rona (North Queensland Cowboys, Canterbury Bulldogs) and Waqa Blake (Penrith Panthers). Although this is a big blow to us from a club point of view to lose these players, it is heartening to know that our junior coaching programmes are up to scratch possibly producing even more future NRL players.
