Harvest Yoga is a sports club located in Melbourne, established in 2001. They have a small team of dedicated teachers who offer mixed level yoga classes. The focus at Harvest Yoga is on teaching Hatha Yoga, with an emphasis on making classes accessible to everyone.
All of Harvest Yoga's classes are open level, meaning they are suitable for both beginners and experienced students. The classes aim to create a balance between the physical, mental, and emotional aspects of yoga through movement, breathing exercises, relaxation, and meditation.
Their current class timetable includes various options throughout the week. On Mondays, there is an open level class with Kate Bywaters from 6PM to 7:15PM. Tuesdays feature a gentle/restorative class via Zoom, as well as an open/beginners class with Kate Bywaters from 7PM to 8:15PM. Wednesdays offer an open/beginners class with Kate Bywaters from 6PM to 7:15PM.
Finally, Saturdays provide an open/dynamic class with Kate Bywaters from 8AM to 9:15AM.
In addition to in-person classes, Harvest Yoga also offers classes via Zoom for those who are unable to attend or prefer to practise from home. Bookings are necessary for both in-person and Zoom classes.
For those attending in person, it is important to note that these classes are different from their regular classes. They are led practises, which means that students are encouraged to become more self-empowered and self-reliant in their yoga practise. This approach allows students to gauge and measure what works best for them, rather than being strictly told what to do.
Kate Bywaters, the main teacher at Harvest Yoga, brings extensive experience, consistent personal practise, and studies in the Iyengar tradition to her teaching. Her classes cater to students of all levels, offering options that accommodate beginners as well as those seeking a more challenging practise.
Harvest Yoga offers various pricing options, including a 10 class pass for $200 (full price) or $190 (concession), as well as a casual class option for $25 (full price) or $22 (concession). Payments and bookings in advance are preferred and advised.
The studio at Harvest Yoga provides a beautiful and peaceful space for classes. With large Edwardian windows, the studio is filled with natural light from the surrounding elm trees. The space is carpeted and equipped with heating, air-conditioning, and overhead fans to ensure comfort during practise.
At Harvest Yoga, students can expect small, intimate classes that are personalised to their needs. The teachers strive to provide a nurturing and challenging environment that may lead to unexpected and surprising growth in their yoga practise.
