Half Moon Bay Surf Life Saving Club, located in stunning Half Moon Bay, is Melbourne's oldest life-saving club with a rich history dating back to 1910. Situated in Black Rock, approximately 20 kilometres south of Melbourne, the club has a strong focus on lifesaving and surf competitions at state, national, and world levels in all age groups including nipper, junior, senior, and masters.
The club is named after its crescent-shaped bay, which stretches 350 metres and faces north in the southern corner before swinging around to face west along the northern section. The partially protected nature of Half Moon Bay makes it one of the most popular recreation areas on Port Phillip Bay. Members of the club train daily, with some competing at an elite national level. Their hard work and dedication culminate in competing against other surf sports competitors around the country, including the Australian Surf Life Saving Titles.
Half Moon Bay SLSC is committed to focusing on the exciting surf sports area, preparing its members for any situation and enabling them to serve the community more effectively. The club welcomes new members and offers a range of programmes and activities to suit all ages and skill levels. Their Nippers programme, designed for children aged 5 to 14 years, provides a fun and educational beach education programme that introduces them to safe and organised activities in a beach environment, preparing them to become future lifesavers.
The Nippers programme caters to children of all experience and skill levels, from those who are already comfortable in the water to those who may need encouragement. It aims to ensure kids have positive experiences on the beach and helps build their confidence, as well as their knowledge and skills in water safety.
With its long-standing history and commitment to surf lifesaving, Half Moon Bay Surf Life Saving Club is a welcoming and inclusive community that promotes fitness, fun, and safety in and around the water. The club is excited to welcome new members and looks forward to seeing you on the beach!
