EHNA Life Members enjoying the Birthday Dinner to celebrate 50 years.
2012 was a very special year for Eastern Hills Netball Association as it marks 50 years since the Association started. We were very excited by this achievement and wanted to make it a memorable year for our members and their families by planning some special events during the season.
Our first event was a carnival on March 31st. The “Golden Gala” was aimed at development teams to give them some pre-season competition and exhibited some players with great potential from Eastern Hills and other Associations. Eastern Hills teams won three divisions, and it was an excellent day for all teams that took part.
Winter started on Saturday 28th April, and we welcomed everyone with a sausage sizzle and a display of the history of our association with memories and photos from some of the players who were part of the first year in 1962.
Towards the end of the season we held a Birthday Dinner for current committee members of the association and clubs, along with previous committee members, life members and others who have been part of Eastern Hills over the years. It was a great dinner with old and new members mingling and some great stories from life members about how the association started.
Our first family fun day with games and rides for all our members, their families, and friends to come and enjoy as a final celebration of our birthday, was held on the last day of the season. This was so popular that we have made it an annual event. At the end of the season each member received a commemorative gold badge and a copy of the History of Eastern Hills Netball Association.
As each year passes Eastern Hills continues to grow, develop and promote netball in the hills.
