Welcome to the Diamond Valley Cricket Association, located in the north-eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria. With 30 cricket clubs covering the Banyule, Nillumbik, Whittlesea, and Darebin metropolitan councils, the association offers cricket for boys, girls, and adults of all ages.
For junior girls aged 10-16, the DVCA offers a Junior Girls competition that has steadily grown since its inception. In line with Cricket Australia's junior pathways, the competition now offers Levels 1, 2, and 3 grades.
Level 1 is aimed at girls under 13 years old or those who have never played cricket before. This level focuses on increasing skills, fostering a love for the game, and providing consistency. Level 1 matches are non-competitive one-day home and away matches.
Level 2 is designed for girls under U15 years old and further develops the skills of those who have played cricket for their second or third year. The emphasis is on continuous and active participation, and games are played as 20/20 one-day matches.
Level 3 is appropriate for girls under U17 years old who have developed skills and are ready to apply them in the full dimensions of the game. The emphasis remains on continuous and active participation, and games are played as 20/20 one-day matches.
All Girls Levels 1, 2, and 3 competitions are held on Wednesday nights, with matches starting at 5pm. In addition to the competition, girls playing in the DVCA have the opportunity to be selected for the Girls Junior Winter Academy and/or the Girls Junior Representative Cricket teams.
Any girls interested in joining a DVCA Girls team can contact DVCA Junior Manager, Ann Perrett, at ann. Perrett@dvca. au. She will be able to assist in finding the nearest club.
