The Cowra Magpies have four teams competing in the Tooheys Group Ten competition. Leading Grade, First Division, U18's and Ladies League Tag. This is the 3rd year for our Ladies League Tag team, and we are excited that all Group 10 clubs are now participating in the League Tag competition.
The Magpies are the current premiers of the Group 10 Bathurst Knockout. Have won the last two under 18s premierships and are aiming for their hatrick in 2005. Last years 2005 tops boasted five Country representatives, a feat never before achieved in Country Rugby League. The Magpies last 1st grade premiership was in 1995 defeating hot favourites Bathurst Penguins (now Panthers) on their home soil.
Magpies have a proud history with one of the strongest junior bases in Country League. Some of the more prominent Magpies include Tommy Raudonikis, Andrew Farrer, Edgar Newham and Royce Simmons. Former Magpies in the NRL at the moment include Chris Flannery, Joe Williams, Shannon Boyd.
We are a strong community based club, and we pride ourselves on maintaining a strong base of local players. We hope to instil the pride and loyalty of sticking with your local side in these players.
In 2014 the Cowra Magpies hosted the Group 10 Grand Final but unfortunately the Bathurst St Pats took home the leadingship. It was an extremely successful year for the Magpies, and it was the first time in 19 years that Cowra Magpies First Grade made it to the Grand Final.
In 2015 Cowra Magpies are celebrating 60 years in the Group 10 competition, and we hope the year is as succesful as 2014.
