Buck Sing Choy Lay Fut is a martial arts sports club based in Melbourne that offers classes for fitness and self-defence purposes. With a history of over 150 years, Choy Lay Fut is a traditional Chinese martial art that provides a comprehensive workout and helps build self-confidence.
The club offers kids classes on Saturday mornings at their Yarraville location. These classes are designed to be fun, fitness-oriented, and structured to burn energy while teaching discipline. Sifu Nick Lizos, a 5th generation Buck Sing disciple, teaches at the Caulfield school and has been a student of Master General Dave Lacey for more than 20 years. Sifu Terry Ho, a 6th generation Buck Sing disciple, is the Chief Instructor at the Yarraville branch.
Buck Sing Choy Lay Fut believes that mastery of forms and techniques is not solely measured by knowledge but by the ability to excel in them. The club encourages individuals to join their classes and experience the benefits of martial arts training. The first lesson is free, providing an opportunity for newcomers to explore and understand the art form.
The club also provides updates and information to its students. For instance, there are new Yarraville classes starting from April 7. Starting from this date, there will no longer be classes on Thursdays at Yarraville. Instead, adult classes will be held in Caulfield, and all Yarraville students are welcome to train with the main branch in Caulfield between 6.
30pm and 8. 00pm. Children are also welcome to train with the adults, giving them the chance to learn from their Caulfield Sihings (seniors).
The club operates from two locations, namely Hashy Hall at 214 Inkerman Street in East St. Kilda, and the Westgate Baptist Community Hall at 16 High Street in Yarraville. To contact them, the club can be reached at 0410 713 064 or via email at bsgwest@hotmail. Com.
