Bright Croquet Club is a friendly and social sports club located at the very end of Burke Street in Alpine Shire, Victoria. The club is easily accessible, as Burke Street is off Ireland Street, opposite the clock tower in the main shopping area of Bright. The club welcomes visitors all year round, as Bright is a popular tourist town in the northeast of the state.
The club offers three different types of croquet for members to enjoy. Association Croquet is played on Tuesday and Sunday mornings, Ricochet is played on Wednesday mornings and Saturday mornings, and Golf Croquet is played on Thursday mornings, Friday afternoons during winter, and Sunday mornings in November and summer.
The club prides itself on being welcoming to beginners and offers a helping hand to those who are new to the sport. Players who don't have their own mallets can borrow them from the club, and participants are required to wear flat shoes while playing. Casual clothing is also allowed.
Bright Croquet Club has a rich history, having been formed in 1904, making it one of the oldest clubs in the state. The club has an excellent grass court, which is divided into two smaller courts on Thursdays and Fridays for golf croquet.
In addition to regular play, the club also hosts three open days each year during the Bright Spring Festival, the Bright Autumn Festival, and Seniors Week in October. These events provide an opportunity for people to learn more about croquet and try their hand at the sport.
