Located in Melbourne, Beaumaris Life Saving Club (BLSC) is a family-focused sports club that offers a safe environment for individuals to learn water skills and have fun. The club boasts a popular Nippers Programme for children aged 5 and above, providing a small and friendly community feel that sets it apart from others.
BLSC’s main mission is to patrol the local Beaumaris Beach from Ricketts Point to Table Rock, ensuring the safety of beachgoers during the summer months. In addition, the club aims to train its members in swimming and lifesaving skills, including water safety, resuscitation, radio communications, rescue techniques, as well as boat, ski, and board techniques.
The club's venue is situated on one of the best beaches on the bay, offering secluded surroundings and extraordinary uninterrupted views. This makes it an ideal location for various events such as parties, gatherings, meetings, and even fitness classes. BLSC regularly hosts local schools, community groups, small businesses, fairs, and family functions.
To support the ongoing operations of the life-saving club, BLSC relies on generous donations. While the club's annual Tin Shake had to be cancelled due to COVID-19, they encourage members and the community to contribute and help sustain their efforts in keeping the beach safe.
BLSC takes pride in its strong sense of community and encourages individuals to join the club as patrolling members. To ensure the safety of its members and the community, the club requires a Working with Children Check.
For those interested in becoming a part of the club, including joining the Nippers Programme or undertaking Bronze and SRC training, further information can be found on their website and social media channels.
Beaumaris Life Saving Club acknowledges and respects the Traditional Country of the Boon Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation and pays its respects to their Elders, both past and present.
