Played by two teams on a rectangular sand court divided evenly by a net, the aim of beach volleyball is to have the ball touch the ground within the court on your opponents' side of the field. Competitively teams comprise two players, however, recreationally teams can be as many as desired. Derived from indoor volleyball, the beach version most likely originated on the sandy shores of Hawaii. Recreational volleyball nets are becoming a feature of Australia’s beaches.
