Bangor Physie, affiliated with the Edith Parsons School of Physical Culture (EP Physie), strives to provide girls and ladies with the skills and confidence they need to succeed. The club focuses on teaching coordination and confidence, while also improving flexibility, strength, posture, and aspirations. They believe in instilling good sportsmanship and encourage members to always try their best and be happy within themselves.
Founded in 2012, Bangor Physical Culture Club is a non-profit organisation. They were initially part of the Western Zone Physical Culture association before joining EP Physie in 2017. Over the years, the club has achieved incredible successes and aims for even more in the future. In 2020, they celebrated their first champion girl, Rachelle Cain, winning the Intermediate Senior Girl section.
At Bangor Physie, the team is dedicated to providing a safe, enjoyable, and supportive environment for all members. Maureen Newman, the senior and ladies teacher, has a wealth of knowledge gained through years of teaching EP Physie and WZ Physie. She is known for her positive and welcoming attitude, ensuring that everyone feels included. Jacqlyn Cain, the junior age group teacher, has been doing physie for over 15 years and competes at the highest level.
She is passionate about sharing her love for physie with others and encourages all who join her classes. Rachelle Cain, the junior age group assistant, brings excitement and encouragement to classes. She has achieved grand champion status twice and even made it to the NRL Bulldogs cheerleading squad in 2020 and 2021.
Physie, or physical culture, is a unique and competitive sport that combines ballet and modern dancing. It not only improves physical fitness but also enhances flexibility, coordination, and posture. Bangor Physie believes that physie is a sport for all ages, where participants can build confidence and form lifelong friendships.
