

Altona Lifesaving Club (ALSC) is a bustling sports club located in the picturesque beachside suburb of Altona, Melbourne. As an active community-based and volunteer-led organisation, ALSC is dedicated to educating its members and the public about water safety, ultimately preventing aquatic-related accidents and injuries at Altona Beach. ALSC's primary mission is to provide a safe environment for all individuals who visit the beach.
At ALSC, safety is the top priority. With a staggering beach attendance of 87,074, the club's dedicated lifesavers and volunteers have carried out an impressive number of preventative actions, totalling 1,210. They also lend a helping hand in times of need, having provided essential first aid on 337 occasions and conducting 10 remarkable rescues.
ALSC offers various training programmes to equip its members with the necessary skills to respond effectively in emergency situations. These training sessions are designed to empower individuals with valuable knowledge about water safety and lifesaving techniques.
The club takes immense pride in its Nippers programme, which engages young members aged 5 to 14 in a range of educational and enjoyable activities. Nippers helps develop their water skills, instil a sense of confidence, and foster a deep appreciation for the ocean's beauty. The programme runs from 12th November 2023, providing a fantastic opportunity for kids to learn and grow in a supportive and fun environment.
Surf sports enthusiasts will find their home at ALSC, as the club actively encourages members to participate in a wide range of surf sports activities. From exhilarating competitions to exhilarating training sessions, surf sports at ALSC create a vibrant and inclusive community of passionate athletes.
