Approximately 20 games per season. The Altona Gators aim to provide a positive and inclusive environment for all players, coaches, officials, and volunteers.
The club offers a range of programmes, including the Gator Academy Development Programme and Gator Clinics, to ensure strong junior growth and development. Junior Gators participate in the Victorian Junior Basketball League (VJBL), with over 300 members and 24 boys and girls teams representing the Gators brand. The Gators prioritise nurturing and supporting junior players, with the goal of successfully transitioning them into senior basketball.
The senior programme includes a men's senior team, as well as men's and women's youth league teams, which compete in the Big V Basketball competition. This competition is the senior state representative competition, and the Gators play across multiple venues throughout the season. The club has experienced significant growth and success in both the senior and junior programmes over the past ten seasons, with multiple championships won in various divisions.
The Altona Gators Basketball Club is proud to be the representative club for the Altona Bay Basketball Association. The association runs both junior and senior domestic competitions, in addition to the representative teams. The club's home base is located at “The Swamp” in the Altona Sports Centre, where it has established a strong sporting presence in Altona and the broader Hobson's Bay Community.
The success of the Altona Gators is a result of the dedication and hard work of its volunteers, coaches, technical officials, and players. The club values their contributions and believes that they are the driving force behind its success. The Altona Gators aim to continue providing a platform for elite basketball development and promoting a love for the sport within the community.
