Founded in 1906, adjacent to the Aberdeen Meatworks site, the Aberdeen Bowling Club Ltd operated as a recreational bowling club for 60years until it outgrew its small facilities. In 1973 an acre of land was purchased from the Crown inside the old Race course at Jefferson Park with earthworks, construction of the clubhouse & access driveway completed in 1975. Extensions to the clubhouse in 1978 added an Auditorium & in 1982 the Restaurant & main lounge extensions were added. In 1990 a synthetic bowling green was installed, much to the disgust of the purists and a first for the district.
Bar extensions & upgrades as well as new toilets were added in 2004 completing building extensions. A new trading name commenced in 2010 as the Aberdeen Sports & Recreation Club & a new synthetic green was installed in 2013. Surrounded by a picturesque 9 hole golf course, cricket & rugby league ovals as well as a just completed 2 court tennis, skate park, bike & netball facility we truly are the hub of Aberdeen sport.
