Zumba with Ani Prasad at Karori Normal School is a physical fitness programme offered by Kanikani Productions, a whnau and community-run business established in 2009. The programme aims to encourage participants to move for health and happiness in a super welcoming and fun environment. Whnau (family), Wairua (spirit), Tinana (body), and Hinengaro (mind) are all emphasised in this holistic approach.
Classes are offered at various locations and times throughout the week, allowing for flexibility and convenience. The timetable includes Zumba on Tuesday evenings at 7 pm at Karori Normal School Hall, Zumba Toning on Thursday evenings at 6 pm at either Benburn Park or Karori Normal School Hall (depending on weather conditions), and Strong Nation on Saturday mornings at 8. 40 am at Northland Memorial Community Centre. Additionally, Zumba classes are offered on Saturday mornings at 9.

Ani Prasad, the director of Kanikani Productions, is an experienced dance teacher with over 24 years of experience. She holds a New Zealand Certificate in Dance and has participated in various dance styles, performances, and workshops throughout her career. Ani has been a licenced Zumba instructor for over 13 years and has completed numerous Zumba Instructor Training Workshops, including Basic 1, Basic 2, Zumba GOLD, Zumba Toning, Pro Skills, Strong Nation, Zumba Kids Jr, and Zumba Kids. She has also attended the International Zumba Convention in the USA in 2010 and 2018.
Ani is married to Ryhan and has two boys, Eli (16) and Theo (9), who may occasionally join the classes. The name “Kanikani” means “to dance” in te reo Mori and holds special significance to Ani, as it was one of her very first words as a baby.
Ani is proud of her combined Spanish and Mori heritage and is committed to providing a positive and inclusive fitness experience for all participants.
