About
Sensei Oren Teichmann would like to share some exciting news with the sports community. Sensei Oren founded the Zanshin Wado Ryu Karate Club back in October 2009 in Burgess Hill, alongside Sensei Mark Brown. Both bring their expertise to the table, with Sensei Oren holding a 4th Dan rank and Sensei Mark holding a 1st Dan rank.
At Zanshin Wado Ryu Karate Club, they welcome students from the age of 8 and up, regardless of whether you are a beginner or have years of experience. The club focuses on teaching Wado-Ryu Karate, encompassing traditional practices like kata, kumite, and kihon. You won’t just sharpen your karate skills here; you’ll also work on your physical and mental fitness while having a bit of fun along the way.
The name 'Wado-Ryu' carries significant meaning: 'Wa' stands for harmony, 'Do' means way, and 'Ryu' represents style. This unique karate style was created by Sensei Hironori Otsuka, who blended his knowledge of various martial arts to develop Wado-Ryu.
The club is proud to be affiliated with British Wadokai, an organisation dedicated to promoting Wado-Ryu Karate in the UK since 1976. The teachings align with the traditional values and syllabus brought to the UK by Suzuki Tatsuo, a 9th Dan Hanshi, in 1964. Students have regular training sessions with Sensei Oren and other experienced instructors.
Whether you're aiming to boost your self-defence skills, improve fitness, or dive into the art of Wado-Ryu Karate, Zanshin Wado Ryu Karate Club offers a great environment for achieving your goals. Join now and become a part of a community that values discipline, respect, and personal growth.
