York Swimming Pool, located on the corner of Bird and Georgiana Street in York, is a popular public swimming pool in the area. Managed by Geoff Heaton, the pool offers a range of services and facilities for both locals and visitors to enjoy.
Operating hours are as follows: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 6:00am to 8:30am, and 7 days a week from 1:00pm to 6:00pm. The pool is closed on public holidays, including Christmas Day and New Year's Day. However, there is a trial opening on Boxing Day 2022 from 1:00pm to 6:00pm.
Please note that the pool is closed annually from 31 March to 1 November.
The swimming pool is home to the York Swimming Club, which holds practise sessions on Monday and Wednesday from 4:00pm to 6:00pm, where two lanes are available. Time trials are held on Friday nights from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, utilising the whole pool for the event.
A kiosk is conveniently located on-site, offering light snacks and drinks for visitors to enjoy during their time at the pool.
Entry fees for the 2022/23 season are as follows: adults $5, children aged 5-17 years $4, single full season pass $115, half-season single pass (open to 31 December or 1 January to close) $68, single full season pass child (up to 17 years) $95, half-season child pass (open to 31 December or 1 January to close) $58, full season family pass (2 adults and 2 children or 1 adult and 3 children) $340, additional family members to full season family pass $58, half-season family pass (open to 31 December or 1 January to close) $168, additional family members to the half-season family pass $34, 10-day vacation pass $32, lane hire per hour $10, water aerobics/exercise fee per hour $20, pool hire including operator for private hire (carnival/gatherings) per hour including entry fees $146, and swimming club annual fee – junior in accordance with other sporting groups $655.
Family passes offer a reduction of 50% on the above fees for aged pensioners and seniors with a valid card. Children up to the age of 5 years have free entry. It is important to note that children 10 years and under must be accompanied by an adult over 18 years of age, and children 5 years and under must be accompanied by an adult in the water at all times over 18 years of age.
