York Lindy, led by passionate organiser Alex Bennett, brings swing dancing straight to the heart of York. Perfect for sports enthusiasts, their offerings range from beginner courses to advanced social events, catering to all skill levels.

For those starting fresh, Alex's Beginners' course is the ideal entry point. With no prior experience needed, participants will be guided through the 1930s Charleston over a span of 4 weeks. After each class, there's an opportunity to unwind and chat at Ye Olde Starre Inne pub.

As the course concludes, dancers get to show off their new moves at a practice social. Ready for more? York Lindy's Level 2 course builds on the basics, focusing on confidence and complex footwork over 3 weeks. Mastery of the 1930s Charleston from the Beginners' course is essential here. A practice social in the fourth week is included in the ticket price.

Classes happen at The Belfrey Hall in Stonegate, York. Pricing is straightforward—£24 for the Beginners' course (£19 for concessions), £18 for Level 2 (£14 for concessions), or £30 for both (£25 for concessions). Upcoming course dates are Thursdays on January 18th, 25th, February 1st, and 8th, 2024. Beginners' run from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm, followed by Level 2 from 8:45 pm to 9:45 pm.

Beyond courses, Alex organises weekly social dances and monthly socials, though, currently, only courses are running. Reserve your spot online, as entry on the day isn't available. Keep an eye on their dancecloud page for updates.
