YMCA North Lakes Youth Centre (The Space North Lakes)

The YMCA North Lakes Youth Centre (The Space North Lakes) is a vibrant community centre that offers excellent indoor and outdoor spaces for both the youth and the wider community to enjoy. Located at Cnr Lakefield Drive & Endeavour Boulevard, North Lakes, QLD 4509, this dedicated youth centre provides opportunities for young people to express themselves through music, dance, recreation, and social interaction.

One of the highlights of The Space is its suburban style skate park and basketball court, which is open to the public. This allows young people to engage in physical activities and enjoy outdoor sports in a safe and welcoming environment. The facility also features a multipurpose event and activity space built around a half-court play area, complete with spectator seating and a grassed amphitheatre. There is also a small performance stage, multiple skate elements, and spaces for external artworks and graffiti, allowing for creativity and self-expression.

The Space offers a range of programmes and events tailored to young people in middle school, senior school, and beyond. These include outreach programmes on Thursday nights, after-school drop-ins during term time and school holidays, as well as 3 On 3 Basketball activities. Young people can also enjoy the gaming consoles, ping pong, pool, basketball, recording studio, and free wifi available at The Space.

For those looking to host events or meetings, The Space provides facility hire options. The hire areas feature versatile, interchangeable furniture formations, accommodating various purposes from small groups to larger conferences or performances. Complimentary wifi access is available in all areas, and there is an option to upgrade the hire to include the use of a commercial kitchen for event catering.

The Space offers three learning areas for hire. Learning Area 1 is a unique 91m2 space with art and craft-friendly seating and flooring, as well as a small meeting area and a soft seating area. Learning Area 2 is a 67m2 carpeted space that can accommodate up to 25 people. Learning Area 3 is a 62m2 space with its own external access, private bathroom facility, and a temporal art display created by local young people.

All learning areas are equipped with tea and coffee making facilities.

In addition to the learning areas, The Space also offers Performance Space 1, a purpose-built dance studio. This space is perfect for dance classes, rehearsals, and performances.
