Yateley Offshore Sailing Club, led by Chris and the team, is a welcoming club in Yateley, Hampshire, with meetings in Sandhurst, Berkshire. Targeted at offshore sailors from North Hampshire, Berkshire, and Surrey, it attracts members from the south and southeast of England.
Chris and his team are open to new members, whether you own a boat or not, with or without boating experience. They provide RYA theory training and practical sea experience, sailing in company, rallies, summer cruising, and social events, ensuring a full sailing experience.
As an RYA Training Centre, the club offers courses like Day Skipper, Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster Offshore theory, and First Aid and can assess for ICC and CEVNI. This helps members to develop their skills in a supportive environment.
In summer, Chris organises rallies to destinations in the Solent area, the South Coast, France, and the Channel Islands, offering chances to explore and enjoy the company of fellow sailors.
Throughout the year, the club holds social events at Sandhurst Social Club and local venues, featuring guest speakers who share their expertise and experiences, fostering a sense of community.
Membership is open to anyone interested in yacht cruising, regardless of age, experience, or boat ownership. There's no waiting list or interview, making it easy to join. The club prides itself on its friendly and inclusive nature with about 80 members, a mix of boat owners and non-owners.
For skippers, Chris offers a crewing list with experienced and qualified members ready to join trips. Many hold RYA Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster certifications. For those looking to join as crew, there's a range of experienced boat owners and skippers.
