WUHCA Outdoor Rink in Saskatoon offers a fantastic outdoor skating experience for residents of Willowgrove and University Heights. The rink is open to the public during designated times, including Thursdays from 4pm to 6pm, Saturdays from 9am to 11am, and Sundays from 2pm to 4pm. These public skate times are supervised, and when unsupervised due to cold weather, no sticks or pucks are allowed on the ice. Outside of these times, the rink is open for general use, with or without sticks and pucks, from morning until 10pm daily.
The rink operates under the guidance of a dedicated Rink Coordinator, Glenda, who ensures that the facility is maintained and accessible to all. WUHCA is grateful for the support of its generous sponsors, without whom the outdoor rink would not be possible. The community hub also offers a variety of sports programs for children, including softball and basketball leagues for various age groups.
For softball, boys and girls born in 2019 and 2020 can participate in 8 practices/games on Thursdays at 7pm. The Timbits program caters to children under the age of five, with co-ed sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6pm to 7pm. As for basketball, registration for the Fall/Winter season is open until August 31st for players of all ages. WUHCA organizes teams and seeks out coaches to ensure a fun and inclusive experience for all participants.
In addition, WUHCA offers outdoor soccer programs for children in age groups U5, U7, and U9. Kindersoccer, for those born in 2019, features 8 practices/games on Wednesday evenings at Wallace Park. Registration for the outdoor soccer season is closed, but kindersoccer registration has been extended until April 15, 2023. Participants must have a valid WUHCA membership and can pay their fees via CommuniBee.
With a strong emphasis on community engagement and sportsmanship, WUHCA Outdoor Rink provides a welcoming space for individuals of all ages to enjoy recreational activities and stay active throughout the year. Join in on the fun and make memories on the ice at this beloved Saskatoon landmark.
