Wrecclesham Cricket Club

Wrecclesham Cricket Club, located in Farnham, is a longstanding cricket club that has been competing in Surrey and Hampshire since joining the Miller Cup in 1951. With one team currently playing in Division 4 of the I'Anson League in Surrey, this club offers a welcoming and all-inclusive environment for cricket enthusiasts of all skill levels.

Unfortunately, like many clubs, Wrecclesham CC has faced financial challenges due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The club heavily invested in preparing their ground for the season, but the subsequent lockdown restrictions limited their ability to generate the necessary income. In order to ensure the future of the club, they have launched a fundraiser, seeking small donations to help them reach their target for maintaining the ground for the remainder of the year and secure the team's continuation into the 2022 season.

The proceeds from the fundraiser will be used for several important purposes. Firstly, the club plans to undertake an end-of-season renovation to their cricket square, ensuring better playability and potential usage by external hirers. Additionally, the maintenance equipment will be serviced to support future maintenance of the square. The installation of a ball stop netting system along the southern boundary of the ground, provision of new sight screens, and boundary markers will enhance the overall playing experience.

Furthermore, the club aims to provide shared playing equipment for use by the wider community, fostering a love for cricket among all age groups.

Looking forward, once the facilities are improved to an acceptable standard, Wrecclesham CC intends to engage with local schools and develop a youth coaching programme. This will create opportunities for young cricketers, providing them with a defined pathway into competitive cricket and ensuring a more sustainable future for the club.
