Albany Surf Life Saving Club offers the dynamic Woodside Nippers Program aimed at children aged 5-14 to develop skills essential for enjoying the beach environment safely. The program includes weekly events covering sprints, flags, swimming, and board skills to enhance their fitness and prepare them for potential future roles as Life Savers. The activities provide a fun and non-threatening environment, encouraging a healthy balance of competition and participation. While not focused on teaching children how to swim, Albany SLSC recommends swim classes to complement this program, emphasizing the importance of water safety.
Nippers are grouped by age calculated at the start of the season, with sessions running on Sundays from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. Parents/carers are expected to be present on the beach during the activities. Additionally, major events and training sessions are scheduled throughout the season to further enhance the participants' capabilities. More information on the schedule can be found in the club's calendar. Exciting opportunities await the eager participants of the Woodside Nippers Program.
