Oxton Parkonians Rugby Club, a local Rugby Union club based in Prenton, is excited to promote an upcoming event for the community. This time, it's all about Women's Touch Rugby, a fantastic sports activity that offers the competitive excitement of rugby without the physical contact.
Since its commencement in April, the Women's Touch Rugby season has grown in popularity, starting with just 8 players and now boasting a squad of 20 strong individuals. It's been incredible to see many mums from our mini/junior rugby program join the league, even without any prior rugby experience.
The Wirral Women's Touch Rugby League, which kicked off back in 2015, has managed to attract a significant number of new players to the game, further highlighting the growing interest and enthusiasm surrounding this sport.
Every other Wednesday, game nights are held at various clubs across the Wirral, from Hoylake to New Brighton. Each of these exciting game nights features three 10-minute games, with rolling substitutes available, ensuring players can take a well-deserved breather whenever needed. The atmosphere is always electric, and after every game night, we gather at the hosting team's clubhouse for some well-deserved drinks and snacks. Believe us, it's an experience you won't want to miss.
Training sessions take place right here at Parkonians every other Thursday. This is not just an opportunity to get fit, but also a chance to learn essential rugby skills and socialise in the middle of the week. We also organise special events to keep things interesting, such as the recent post-training Jubilee Picnic, and we have plans for an exciting awards evening complete with a BBQ. Oh, and did we mention we're even planning a tour to Spain next year? So many exciting things are happening, and we would love for you to be a part of it.
To further showcase the skills and talent of our local club, Oxton Parkonians Rugby Club will be hosting the Wirral Women's Touch League game night on Wednesday, 6th July. This event is not just an opportunity to support your local club, but also a chance to experience the thrill of touch rugby firsthand. We're looking to enter at least two teams in the next season, so we encourage anyone interested to get in touch.
