Mawdesley Cricket Club, a local Cricket club in Ormskirk, has been making waves with its Women and Girls Cricket Section since its inception in 2015. This section was created with the aim of providing a solid pathway for talented young girls playing in the junior teams to continue their cricket journey and progress into women's cricket.
Throughout the years, the section has flourished and welcomed the enthusiastic participation of not only the junior players' mothers but also their sisters and friends. They have actively taken part in Women's social Soft Ball Festivals and have truly proved their mettle by securing victories in various games and tournaments. In fact, in 2021, they emerged as the champions in their league competition.
Exciting times lie ahead for Mawdesley Cricket Club as they gear up for the upcoming season. The club will kick-start the action with pre-season indoor training sessions in January 2022. These training sessions will be held at Bishop Rawstorne School in Croston on Saturday mornings. As the weather improves, the training will seamlessly transition outdoors to Rectory Field, situated in the beautiful surroundings of Mawdesley.
That's not all – in 2022, the club has something special in store for older primary school girls who are itching to dive into the world of cricket. They will be launching the Girls Only Dynamos group, exclusively tailored for these girls who have a passion for the sport. The Dynamos sessions are scheduled to take place on Sunday mornings for eight weeks, commencing on 8th May.
And here's even more exciting news - Mawdesley Cricket Club plans to host a taster day on May Bank Holiday Monday, the 2nd of May 2022, specifically for adults who are keen to give cricket a shot. It's the perfect opportunity for new players to experience the thrill of the game and get a taste of what Mawdesley Cricket Club has to offer.
