Wombwell Kart Circuit, located in Barnsley, is a well-established and highly regarded go-kart track known for its thrilling racing experiences. With a rich history dating back to 1959, this circuit has been a favourite among racers of all ages and skill levels.

One of the standout features of Wombwell Kart Circuit is its unique anti-clockwise layout. This layout, combined with the infamous turn 3, provides an exhilarating racing experience for all participants. Turn 3 is approached flat out from the straight and is entered blindly due to the perimeter fence, making it a challenging and exciting section of the track. Additionally, turn 4 offers fantastic overtaking opportunities, adding to the thrill of the race.

The track itself is relatively short, measuring 865 metres in length. A breeze block wall separates the main straight from the return straight, sitting only one metre from the edge of the track. This proximity to the wall adds an element of risk and excitement for drivers.

Over the years, Wombwell Kart Circuit has seen many successful drivers pass through its gates. Notable names such as Lewis Hamilton, George Russell, Jenson Button, and David Coulthard have all raced on this track, along with local Formula E driver Oliver Rowland. The circuit is operated by a dedicated committee of volunteers and boasts a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Monthly race meetings are held for owner drivers, and as a registered Motorsport UK circuit, Wombwell Kart Circuit can offer ARKS Tests to help drivers obtain licences for MSUK events.

Wombwell Kart Circuit is open to owner drivers and spectators on every second Sunday and Saturday of the month, with Saturday hours running from 11:30 am to 6:00 pm and Sunday hours from 11:00 am onwards. However, it is important to note that the circuit is closed throughout the month of August.

To participate, owner drivers are required to pay a yearly membership fee of 30, which covers January to December. Practise day fees for members are 45, while race day fees are 50. Non-members can expect to pay 55 for race day participation. Transponder hire is available for 10.

Racing at Wombwell Kart Circuit is open to individuals aged 6 and above, with no race licence required. However, it is essential for all participants to familiarise themselves with the track's rules and regulations to ensure a safe and fair racing environment.
